NPCF announces collaboration with Interior Savings to establish $1-million community legacy fund

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Community Foundation (NPCF) announced its collaboration with Interior Savings to establish the North Peace Savings Community Legacy Fund on Monday. 

Born out of the successful merger between Interior Savings and North Peace Savings and Credit Union, the fund aims to invest $1 million into community programs and services that will positively impact the North Peace region and Northern Rockies over the next twenty years. 

Interior Savings chose the NPCF to administer these funds. 

NPCF chair Lori Ackerman expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. 

“When like-minded community organizations, like Interior Savings, come together with the North Peace Community Foundation, great things can happen. We can make productive and positive changes in the lives of those who live in our communities,” said Ackerman. 

“We are eager to administer this new granting program, supporting essential community service organizations for the advancement of our regions in the North.”

Brian Harris, president and CEO of Interior Savings, says the NPCF was chosen to administer the North Peace Community Legacy Fund because the foundation is established in northeast B.C. and committed to building stronger, more resilient communities within the region. 

“We’re honoured to lend our support to ensure this $1-million legacy fund fosters meaningful and sustainable impact in the North Peace and Northern Rockies regions for years to come,” said Harris. 

Beginning in 2024, a distribution of $50,000 will be allocated annually over the course of 20 years. 

Information regarding grant criteria and the application process will be released by the NPCF in January 2024.
