UPDATE: Alaska Highway open after Police incident

A police incident near the top of the South Taylor Hill has caused delays on the Alaska Highway.

UPDATE : Highway 97 is open in both directions as of 8:30 a.m. The Police incident has ended.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A police incident near the top of the South Taylor Hill has caused delays on the Alaska Highway.

According to Drivebc.ca, the highway is blocked in both directions due to a police incident near Pingel Creek Road.

The RCMP has not released any information about what is happening, but traffic is backed up in both directions.

As of 8:15 a.m., Friday, there has yet to be an estimate on when the highway will re-open.
