Highway 77 has been cleared, according to DriveBC.

UPDATE: Highway 77 reopened Saturday morning.

FORT NELSON, B.C. – Highway 77 has been cleared, according to DriveBC.

The B.C. Wildfire service previously recommended the closure of Highway 77 due to increased fire activity in the northeast of B.C.

Smoke in the area is still impacting visibility.

Check the B.C. Wildfire map or FIRMS infrared wildfire map before travelling down resource roads or entering the backcountry.

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has an evacuation alert in place for the entire eastern portion of the NRRM, and you can visit the NRRM webpage for up-to-date information on current evacuation orders and alerts.

A campfire ban is currently in effect in the Fort Nelson Fire Zone and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.
