Spark celebrates 10th anniversary, announces $50,000 endowment fund

The Spark Women’s Leadership Conference commemorated its 10th year anniversary with the establishment of an educational endowment fund.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Spark Women’s Leadership Conference celebrated it’s 10th year anniversary by announcing a $50,000 endowment fund.

Announced on September 21st, the fund will be used to support the educational endeavours of women in northeast B.C. 

The fund will have its first recipients in the fall of 2024, and will only be available for women over the age of 25.

To be considered for the fund, applicants must also reside in northeast B.C, demonstrate financial need and a commitment to the community through volunteering endeavours.

Jennifer Moore, a founding steering committee member of Spark, highlighted the committee’s desire to accomplish this goal since the early days of the organization. 

 “It is through women helping women that we can truly build amazing communities,” said Moore.

Held at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre on September 20th and 21st, this year’s conference saw approximately 300 attendees and focused on encouraging women to reach their leadership potential.

The Spark Women’s Leadership Conference was established 10 years ago by local entrepreneurs, executives and community leaders with the mission of making professional development more accessible to women in the Peace region.
