FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — With Autumn officially here, the Rotary Spray Park has closed for the season.

On Thursday, crews winterized the spray park in preparation for the winter months.

Ryan Harvey, with the City of Fort St. John, said winterizing the spray park is similar to winterizing an automatic irrigation system.

He said it consists of emptying the system to ensure there is no water left that could freeze and crack the lines in the winter and then deactivating the system.

“It’s draining the water so that nothing happens over the winter and making sure that the system can’t be utilized in the interim,” Harvey said.

The Rotary Spray Park will reopen when the weather is warm enough in 2024.
