DAWSON CREEK, B.C. —  The Northern Combat Club’s (NCC) Northern Combat Invitational (NCI) 6 kicks off at DC MMA and Jiu-Jitsu in Dawson Creek next month.

NCC owner and head coach Clint Parker says the open invitational is for kids 15 and under, who will compete in jiu-jitsu matchups and learn from experienced practitioners.

“The reason we did this is because I wanted to have a tournament just dedicated to the kids for the whole day because they felt like they got lost in the mix sometimes with the adults there,” Parker said.

Before the tournament, there will be a free seminar for anyone who enters.

NCC partnered with gyms in Fort Nelson, Dawson Creek and Grande Prairie to host the seminar and invitational.

“We’re gonna have an instructor from each gym do free seminars for the kids before the competition, and then after the competition, there’s a bunch of free coaching, too,” Parker said.

According to Parker, ex-UFC fighter Shane Campbell will be present at the event, providing seminars and featuring as a guest referee.

The head coach also mentioned any kids who are experiencing bullying get to train for free.

The event will be held at the DC MMA on October 7th, with the seminar starting at 10 a.m. and the competition beginning at 11 a.m.

Registration for the NCI 6 is $65 to compete, $25 to attend seminars only, and free to spectate.

More information about the event can be found on the NCC Facebook page.
