FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Students head back to school next week, which means drivers will need to be mindful of school speed zones beginning September 5th.

School District 60 is reminding local drivers to slow to 30 kilometres per hour in school zones from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days and to watch for excited children who may be unaware of oncoming traffic.

According to a recent release from ICBC, three children are killed and 359 are injured in crashes while walking or cycling every year in B.C. 51 of those injuries take place in school and playground zones.
