FORT ST JOHN, B.C. — Coastal GasLink (CGL) is 88.4 per cent complete, according to May’s construction update.
The project now has four of eight pipe sections installed, 70 per cent of all water crossings completed and 97 per cent of all pipes welded.
Over 612 kilometres of pipe across the 670 kilometres route has been installed.
Due to the high temperatures across the province, Coastal GasLink is reportedly adjusting work plans and implementing additional erosion and sediment control measures.
CGL says there are over 700 workers dedicated to monitoring conditions and implementing erosion and sentiment control measures as required.
In the first section of the project, the company continues erosion and sediment control and demobilizing construction crews from west of Dawson Creek to the south of Chetwynd.
CGL also continues to complete final grading and seeding activities in the area.
As of April 30th, 2023, there were approximately 4,410 workers across the project route.
The pipeline will transport natural gas to the approved LNG Canada facility near Kitimat, according to CGL’s website.
