Predators win gold rings in Kelowna

The under-13 Northeast BC Predators earned gold at the BC Mayhem tournament in Kelowna over May long weekend.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The under-13 Northeast BC Predators earned gold at the BC Mayhem tournament in Kelowna over May long weekend. 

Instead of travelling home with gold medals, the girls now have gold rings to remember their excellent performance at the team’s last spring season tournament of the year.

The predators started the weekend on a low note, losing against the Edmonton All-Star Caps 1-2 on Friday.

The girls were able to shake off the rust in the first game of the tournament and earned two dominant wins the following day.

On Saturday, The Predators beat the Vancouver Prospects 8-0 and the Kelowna Heat 7-0.

The Predators again faced the All-Star Caps, this time in the playoffs. The team was able to redeem themselves after the first loss of the tournament, beating the Caps 4-2.

In the gold medal game on Sunday afternoon, the Predators played against the All-Star Caps for the third time, winning 4-3 in overtime.
