Hudson’s Hope councillor resigns to run for mayor

Councillor Travous Quibell submitted his resignation effective Monday as he intends to run for mayor in the upcoming by-election.

HUDSON’S HOPE — Councillor Travous Quibell submitted his resignation effective Monday in order to run for mayor in the upcoming by-election.

The by-election will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, to elect a new mayor and a new councillor.

Quibell’s announcement follows Mayor Dave Heiberg’s resignation earlier this month. Heiberg’s last day in office was on Monday, May 15th, as well.

“I apologize for the added workload and strain that this may place on my fellow councillors, as they will now be tasked with carrying the weight of both the seat of cayor as well as any of my current obligations,” Quibell said.

“With some luck, a bit of hard work, and the support of the community, I look forward to returning to the council table soon.”
