FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Lakepoint Golf and Country Club is now open and scheduling bookings for tee times.

Although the golf course opened earlier this year than last, Lakepoint general manager Troy Knight says they’re usually the last to open in the area due to where the course is located.

“We are pitched against the sun and have a bunch of trees, so everything kind of works against us in the spring as far as snowmelt and getting things ready to open,” said Knight.

“We open when we can, but wait for Mother Nature to tell us when essentially.”

Knight says “golf has boomed” over the last few years and is expecting another busy season ahead.

“We’ve got waitlists for things we haven’t had waitlists for in the years past,” said Knight.

According to Knight, opening the golf course this year was made possible by the help of a large number of volunteers.

Lakepoint Golf and Country Club is located along the west side of Charlie Lake. Tee times must be booked in advance by calling 250-785-5566.
