FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Over $140,000 was raised this weekend at the annual charity ball supporting the Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society.
The money raised will go towards the charitable society’s many programs, including the burn fund, which helps burn survivors, and the medical travel program, which assists those who need to travel for medical reasons.
Society vice president Brent Morgan says community members filled 42 tables at the Pomeroy Hotel on May 6th.
“It was very well attended, very well received. Everyone does enjoy the event. A lot of people look forward to it,” Morgan said.
“I hear a lot of comments that people say they look forward to this — this is their favourite night of the year.”
The night included live music, raffle prizes, and a live auction.
“I just want to always thank the community for this, they’re very generous, and we couldn’t do it without them,” Morgan said.
