We have a few changes here at Energeticcity.ca. We are sad to say that Katherine Caddel is leaving us to go back to school. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours!

In brighter news, we are excited to announce that Jordan Prentice has been promoted to Associate Editor! Along with her video and sports stories, she will also be helping out with editing along with News Director Tre Lopushinsky. To fill the gap in our civic reporting, Jordan will be attending council meetings and working alongside Shailynn Foster to write the stories. Tre will be taking over Peace Politics for the foreseeable future. Here is what Jordan had to say about her new position:

“My first nine months at Energeticcity.ca have been an amazing learning experience. I have really enjoyed the exciting opportunities my job has given me to explore the beautiful Peace region and get to know its residents. Now, I am looking forward to stepping into the role of Associate Editor and working closely with my News Director to ensure community members throughout the region receive the most accurate, honest and best possible coverage of what is happening in their neighbourhood. Thank you for this opportunity!”

Top Stories of the Week

It’s always interesting to see what the readers of Energeticcity.ca are most interested in the region. Sometimes it’s a big decision impacting property taxes, and sometimes it’s a new restaurant coming to town. Here are the top stories for the week of April 23 to 29, 2023:

1. Montney Reserve Legal Battle: in this article, our Indigenous Voices Reporter Manavpreet Singh breaks down the history behind the legal battle over the Montney Reserve between local First Nations and the government.
2. City Vehicle in Fatal Incident: back in March, we reported on a fatal incident that happened along 100th Street. We only recently gained confirmation that a City of Fort St John vehicle was involved.
3. Police Dog Aids in Capture: of a 22-year-old man, who was wanted on multiple charges, including possession of child pornography.
