FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Over $8,000 was given to dance and band students in the region following the Peace River North Festival.
The band portion of the festival ran from April 14th to 16th and included piano, vocals and band performances.
Dance performances featuring a variety of styles, including individual, duo and group performances, ran from April 20th to 23rd.
Because the local festival is part of the Performing Arts BC Festival, adjudicators can also send students to the provincial level to compete.
Alchemy Dance Collective will send five dance groups to provincials, and Studio2Stage Dance Academy will send three dance groups.
Dance director Melissa Paakkonen says about 95 per cent of the winners are from Fort St. John or surrounding areas.
