Tumbler Ridge gains most votes in 2023 SledTown final

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — Tumbler Ridge is unofficially the 2023 SledTown after weeks of competition.

In the SnoRiders’ SledTown ShowDown final, Tumbler Ridge was up against Thompson, Manitoba. SnoRiders have yet to officially name the winner, but according to its website, Tumbler Ridge had 50.9 per cent of the votes when the competition closed Sunday evening.

Tumbler Ridge had 2,985 votes, while Thompson gained 2,879.

Tumbler Ridge last won the title in 2019, while the 2023 championship would have been a first for Thompson.

According to the SnoRiders website, Tumbler Ridge has kept the lead throughout the rounds, winning 74 per cent of the votes against Whistler and Squamish in the first round, 70 per cent of the votes against Blue River in the second round and 67 per cent of the votes against Revelstoke in the third round.

In the fourth round, Tumbler Ridge beat Sicamous with 54 per cent of the votes for the provincial championship that ran from March 14th to 26th.

In the semi-finals, provincial champions were pitted against each other from March 28th to April 9th. Tumbler Ridge faced off against Swan Hills, Alberta, winning with 54 per cent of the votes.

On April 11th, Thompson was ahead with 64.24 per cent of the votes, but Tumbler Ridge was in the lead when voting closed.

If Tumbler Ridge is officially named the winner, it will receive another trophy to display at its visitor centre and be featured in articles on the SnoRiders website.
