Local recruited to University of Victoria rugby team

Fort St. John product Hailey Dutchak has signed with the University of Victoria’s Vikes women’s rugby team.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John product Hailey Dutchak has signed with the University of Victoria’s Vikes women’s rugby team.

Dutchak will join the team for the 2023/24 season as a prop or 8-man.

“I am looking forward to being part of the UVic Vikes Rugby Program for many reasons. Being a part of a cohesive program with big goals is appealing to me,” said Dutchak

“I look forward to finding my place on the team and contributing on and off the field. Victoria offers the opportunity for me to train year round and work towards my long-term rugby goals.”

She is currently training with the MacDowell Rugby Academy and gives back to the community as a rugby referee.

Dutchak went to school at North Peace Secondary School and Cowichan Secondary School.
