Northern Health begins operation of Prince George Surgery Centre
Northern residents will have access to sustained surgical capacities after Northern Health assumes operation of Prince George Surgery Centre.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern residents will have access to sustained surgical capacities in Prince George after Northern Health assumed operation of the Prince George Surgery Centre on Monday.
The centre and equipment were acquired in partnership with the province to allow residents in and around Prince George continued access to surgeries.
According to Health Minister Adrian Dix, the centre will cover low-complexity surgeries, allowing the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia to prioritize more complex surgeries.

“When you or someone you love requires a surgery, long wait times can be stressful and disheartening,” said Dix.
“That’s why we are supporting Northern Health in taking on surgical operations at the Prince George Surgery Centre where people requiring low-complexity procedures can receive care.”
Day surgeries completed at the new centre include plastic, orthopedic, and cataract surgeries.
