FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The 4th Annual Spelling Bee has been cancelled due to not enough kids signing up.

Jessica Kalman, executive director for the Fort St. John Literacy Society, says not enough kids enrolled in the competition by the cut-off date.

“If there’s only one or two kids per category, it’s quite challenging to make it a competition,” Kalman said.

During the spelling bee, students from grades one to nine compete against their peers, with a winner selected from each grade.
