First band concert in two years at North Peace Cultural Centre

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Grade 6-12 students will be performing at the North Peace Cultural Centre for the first time in two years on May 5th.

The show begins at 6:30 P.M. with the grade 6 (beginner) band and goes until about 8:30 P.M.

Four of the bands involved received a ‘Gold’ standing at Festival, and three grade 12 students will be heading off to university to study music in the fall.

Sabrina Brooks, a music teacher for School District 60, says in an email, “I am a very proud band mama as despite all the metaphorical wrenches thrown at them, these kids have all managed to learn and grow into wonderful musicians and they deserve an audience!”

Brooks conducts the beginner band, grade 6, Sandra Gunn and Alice Maundrell conduct the grade 7, 8 and 9 bands, and David Price conducts the grade 10, 11 and 12 bands.

Brooks would like to thank the community for supporting the band programs, especially since it has been a lifeline during the pandemic for some of the students.
