FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A presentation on scams and frauds is taking place at the Fort St. John Seniors Hall on Tuesday.
Starting at 11 a.m., Nadine Thronton from IG Wealth Management will be speaking on phone scams, social media, and fake news.
She will also be answering any questions and will upload people’s cell phones to the National Do Not Call list if they’re interested.
The presentation follows a couple of incidents last year where the Peace region RCMP warned citizens of scam calls.
In one instance, the Fort St. John RCMP front desk received numerous calls of residents being targeted by scammers posing as the Canadian Border Security Agency.
The scam claimed a package in the victim’s name had been flagged, and a warrant was issued for their arrest.
