TAYLOR B.C. – Fort St. John RCMP says they have arrested one person in relation to the large police presence in Taylor.
The detachment had attended an apartment building on 102nd Street in Taylor after receiving a report of an assault in progress. Police say officers spoke to the victim who had exited the residence.
The building was evacuated after police were told that a firearm had possibly been discharged in the residence, said the detachment in a news release.
The suspect remained inside the building and was reportedly uncooperative with police, barricading themselves in the residence. Due to the potential threat of a firearm, the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist with arresting the suspect.
With the assistance of ERT, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody, according to police. Officers transported the suspect to the Fort St John RCMP detachment, where they currently remain.
The Fort St John RCMP says they have secured the scene for further investigation.
Anyone with additional information in this matter is asked to contact police at 250-787-8100.
