FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Two peace region non-profits will be benefiting from the Site C project’s Generate Opportunities (GO) Fund from BC Hydro.
The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society will be receiving $5,000 to help fund staffing for their Outreach Store. The store helps to provide free food, clothing, household necessities, hygiene products, and other essential items for women, children, and men in need in the community.
This grant for the WRS is the fourth one the society has received through the GO Fund.
The Tansi Friendship Centre Society is receiving $7,500 for a biweekly support group for expectant mothers and new parents in the Chetwynd area. This is also the fourth grant the society has received through the GO Fund.
According to BC Hydro, 63 projects in the Peace Region have received funding totalling $552,566 of the $800,000 fund.
The GO Fund was established in September 2016 to help non-profit organizations in the north and south Peace throughout the construction of Site C.
