FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Site C employment continues to grow as BC Hydro reported 5,046 total workers in June.
The workforce grew by 178 jobs compared to May, and 3,573, 0r 71 per cent, of the total workers were from British Columbia.
The number of Peace River Regional District workers rose to 1,038, 24 per cent of the construction and non-construction contractor’s workforce.
Indigenous people working at Site C increased slightly from 372 in May to 375 in June, and female employment also increased to 532.
The dam’s workforce is up year-over-year compared to last June, when 4,324 workers were reported on site.
According to BC Hydro, companies with substantial global experience have been contracted for major project components. In June, there was one international worker in specialized positions for Site C and 34 management and professionals working for Site C through the federal International Mobility Program.
As of August 4th, there are 1,580 people at camp, three in isolation at camp, five in isolation at home, and one active cases of COVID-19.
