Burnaby-based company awarded $70-million contract at Site C

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro has awarded the plant contract for mechanical work at Site C to Mitchell Installations Ltd.

The announcement for the $70 million contract was on July 29th.

Mitchell Installations Ltd., a Burnaby-based company, will be responsible for all the mechanical work required to complete the construction of the generating station and spillways, along with some other related facilities at Site C.

According to a release, the contractor is an established industrial contractor that specializes in mechanical equipment installations and has a history of working with BC Hydro on other projects like the Mica Dam 5 and 6 Project, the Ruskin Dam upgrades, and the cooling water gates replacement at the Burrard Generating Station.

Mitchell Installations Ltd. should be starting on site around the fall, and work is scheduled to be completed in 2024.

BC Hydro awarded the contract after following a comprehensive evaluation process.
