FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Council approved amendments proposed by the Parkwood Group for its development project in Fort St. John.
During Monday’s public hearing, Parkwood representative, Brandy Conway, spoke to council about the proposed modifications.
“For the Parkwood development to be successful and progress forward, stage one must be broken into smaller phases,” said Conway.
The approved amendment updates the development staging provided in the Traffic Impact Study (TIS) and Master Infrastructure Servicing Plans and Report (MISPR).
Stage one was split into two phases, and subdivision construction is expected to begin this summer. The first phase of work will take place on the southeast portion of the property, focusing on commercial use.
The timing of Trailhead Park’s development was also deferred to a later stage, which was originally slated for stage one.
Parkwood Southlands is split into four subzones focusing on mixed-use, commercial, and residential buildings along with parks and trail development.
The proposed 3,400-unit residential neighbourhood would occupy 218 acres of land on the City’s west side.
The city received no letters of opposition for the public hearing.
