VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 16 new cases over the weekend, including zero from Sunday to Monday.
The active case count for the region is 78.
There are two people in hospital, both are in critical care.
There were no COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, keeping the total at 154.
Out of 7,767 confirmed cases since last March, 7,535 have since recovered.
There were 5,919 doses of the vaccine given since Friday, bringing the total number of doses given in the Northern Health Region to 182,219.
The province added 277 new cases over the weekend. From Friday to Saturday there were 96 cases, 113 from Saturday to Sunday, and 68 from Sunday to Monday.
There are 1,537 active cases in British Columbia.
Of the 136 people in hospital, 42 are in critical care.
There were four COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, bringing the provincial total to 1,734.
Out of 146,453 total cases since last March, 143,147 have since recovered.
There were 154,765 shots given across the province since Friday. There have now been 4,048,346 doses given to British Columbians.
British Columbia will enter step two of the four-step reopening plan on Tuesday.
“As we bridge to step two, the provincial health officers’ orders have been amended to allow for some increases in gatherings in our homes, restaurants and businesses. However, it is very important to remember that orders and restrictions remain in place,” says Dr. Bonnie Henry.
“Safety plans and masks are still required in all indoor public spaces, as is the need to give others space, to stay home when we are ill and get tested if we develop symptoms.”
Northern Health issued a COVID-19 school exposure notice for staff and students of Bert Bowes Middle School from May 31st to June 4th, and June 7th.
Chetwynd Secondary School, Don Titus Elementary, Windrem Elementary, and Little Prairie Elementary had an exposure notice for June 8th.
