DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Dawson Creek Events Centre is being rebranded from its familiar name, the Encana Events Centre.

As of May 31st, the venue is now called the Ovintiv Events Centre.

It’s the same sponsor, just with a new name. In 2020, Encana Corporation had a reorganization period that resulted in rebranding and went forward under the name Ovintiv Inc.

The name change, new branding and signage changes demonstrates the commitment of Ovintiv Inc to a long-standing naming rights relationship and strong community partnership with Spectra Venue Management and the City of Dawson Creek, says a release.

“Having a strong community partner such as Ovintiv is so important and is a great example of partners working together to enhance our quality of life in Dawson Creek,” says Mayor Dale Bumstead. “When the time comes, I can’t wait to attend the first big event or concert at the Ovintiv Events Centre.”

Ovintiv Canadian Operations General Manager Mike Selleck says contributing to community life is a focus where it operates.

“Our investment in the Ovintiv Events Centre aims to enrich the lives of the citizens of Dawson Creek, where our employees also live and work. We look forward to continuing our strong community partnership and to welcoming events back into the space,” says Selleck.

The rebranding, combined with the provincial government’s reopening plan announced last week, has Events Centre General Manager Dustin Bodnaryk optimistic about the future post-pandemic.

“Continuing our strong partnership with our naming rights partner Ovintiv under a new brand is an exciting step as we gain momentum with renewed excitement and welcome fans back into the venue,” says Bodnaryk.

Signs, logos, social media, and the website will gradually change to the new branding over the next few weeks. The domain for the website will remain the same.
