FORT NELSON, B.C – An autopsy has confirmed the death of a 69-year-old Fort Nelson man was a homicide.
The  North District Major Crime Unit is collecting evidence to identify those responsible for the death of Artchie Gairdner.
On April 24th, the Northern Rockies RCMP responded to a report of a man found dead inside a Fort Nelson home. The responding police officers called the NDMCU after believing the death to be suspicious.
“The cause of death will not be released as investigators must strike a balance between protecting key details of the investigation and releasing information. This is done to protect the integrity of the investigation to ensure that this matter can be brought before the courts with the necessary evidence for a successful prosecution,” says Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in a statement Thursday.
Saunderson says investigators have been in regular contact with Mr. Gardiner’s family, providing them with support, updates and explain the investigative process.
Investigators are interested in hearing from anyone with information regarding the death of Gairdner.
Anyone with information can contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at (250) 774-2700 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
