FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The number of Site C workers rose in March 2021.
There were 4,321 Site C workers in March. Out of the total number of workers, 3,134 or 73 per cent of the workforce were BC residents.
The number of Peace River Regional District workers rose to 900, 25 per cent of the total workforce.
According to BC Hydro, companies with substantial global experience have been contracted for major project components. There was one international worker in specialized positions for Site C and 28 management and professionals working for Site C through the federal International Mobility Program.
Indigenous people were working at Site C increased from 300 in February to 346 in March.
Women working at Site C also increased from 437 in February to 474 in March.
A COVID-19 outbreak was declared at Site C on April 29th in relation to two active clusters on the project.
As of May 4th, there are 1,436 people at camp, 33 in isolation at camp, 44 in isolation at home, and 16 active cases of COVID-19.
