DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Aidan Armitage from the Dawson Creek Volleyball Club has officially committed to Grande Prairie Regional College.
Armitage will join Madison Chabot, Layla Hingley, and Gabby Capelle next season with the Wolves.
The four have played a ton of volleyball together over the years, something Wolves coach Lauren Hale-Miller says will help in the first weeks of the season.
“It’s an advantage that they’ve all played together. We can get past that awkward stage of getting to know people, and we can just get right to work,” says Hale Miller.
In a release Wednesday, Armitage says she chose GPRC to keep a family tradition going.
“Both my parents and my sister went there, and they all enjoyed their experiences. I like how close to home it is and I have heard great things about the quality of the education and the sports teams at GPRC,” says Armitage.
Armitage has enjoyed a ton of success in recent years. She won the Volleyball BC U-15 Zone Championship in 2017, and she was chosen as the most valuable player at Provincial Championships.
In the 2019 High School Provincial Championship, Armitage got third place and was chosen as a first-team all-star. She also medalled three times at Division 1 AVA Premier Tournaments.
Coach Hale-Miller says she is thrilled to have Armitage joining the Wolves next season.
“Aidan will be a great addition to our program this fall. She comes from a strong club program where she has put in the time and dedication to improve not only her game but her teammates’ game as well. Not only will Aidan add skill to our roster, but maturity and leadership as well.”
Armitage says she is looking forward to playing with new teammates that will help her take her game to the next level.
