FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – A Fort St. John coffee shop is set to expand into the Pomeroy Sport Centre after city council approved its proposal.

On Monday, council approved a three-year lease for The Canadian Grind to operate out of the centre’s downstairs concession with an option to renew for an additional two years.

Lynette Cordonier created the local coffee shop in 2011 and expanded operations into the North Peace Secondary School Cafeteria in 2019. The coffee shop will be investing approximately $10,000.00 in equipment to expand the concession area’s current services.

“Her goal is to provide hygienic, healthy and delicious food options. Ms. Cordonier has demonstrated via the menu attached to her proposal that she will provide a wide range of food choices including healthy alternatives and will have convenient hours operation for the concession,” says Community Services Director Karin Carlson in the March 22nd report.

Carlson mentioned the second-floor concession is still open during council on Monday.
