VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 56 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, raising the active case count to 311.
There are 14 people in hospital, nine of whom are in Critical Care.
The region had zero COVID-19 related deaths Friday, keeping the total at 110.
There have been 5,101 confirmed cases in the region since last spring, and 4,667 have recovered.
British Columbia added 648 new cases Friday, raising the active case total to 5,070.
There are 255 people in hospital, 67 of whom are in Critical Care.
The province had no COVID-19 related deaths Friday, keeping the total at 1,397.
In total, British Columbia has recorded 86,867 confirmed cases, and 80,325 have recovered.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday that Pfizer has guaranteed deliveries of 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses each week from March 22nd to May 10th.
The increase is more than double the 444,600 doses expected to be shipped next week by Pfizer.
Moderna is shipping 846,000 doses the week of March 22nd.
As of Friday, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says 380,743 vaccine doses have been given. Of those, 87,024 are second doses.
Northern Health issued a COVID-19 exposure notice for staff and students of North Peace Secondary School on March 3rd and 4th.
Students and staff are asked to self-monitor for possible symptoms until March 18th, which is 14 days from the last possible contact.
