Murder charge laid in woman’s death

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A Fort St. John man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 22-year-old woman Monday night.

Court records show Shane Sutherland, 27, has been charged in the killing of Amanda Black.

RCMP said they were called to a home in the Village St. John townhouse complex on 102 Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8th.

Sutherland was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. He will appear in court Thursday for a bail hearing.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate.
