FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – There were 25 cases of COVID-19 reported in Peace River North from December 13 to 19.

The B.C. CDC has started to release a weekly map that provides the number of COVID-19 cases by local health area. In the week before, there were 32 cases in Peace River North.

In Peace River South, there were only 4 cases from December 13 to 19 and 7 cases in Fort Nelson.

The positivity rate in the Northern Health region remains over 10 per cent. The positivity rate jumped over 10 per cent on December 12 and has remained above that mark ever since. On December 22, the rate was 11 per cent. Compared to the rest of B.C., Northern Health has the highest test positivity rate in the province. Fraser Health had a rate of 7.8 per cent on December 22.

In Northern Health, over 43,000 COVID-19 tests have been completed since the pandemic started.
