DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Encana Events Centre helped contribute $14.2 million in economic activity, in 2019, to the City of Dawson Creek.
According to a study conducted by Sport Tourism Canada, on behalf of Spectra Venue Management, 24,606 people were visitors to Dawson Creek specifically to attend an event at the Encana Events Centre, spending $6.2 million in 2019.
It was also reported in the study that the Encana Events Centre supported tax revenues totaling over $2.8 million across Canada.
Dawson Creek Mayor Dale Bumstead says this report continues to show the importance of the Event and Sport Tourism Strategy.
“This report is a significant demonstration of how important the Event and Sport Tourism Strategy is for Dawson Creek, and shows how greatly it impacts the economy of the City and region as a whole.”
The main objective of this year-long project was to not only determine the overall economic impact the Encana Events Centre has on the community of Dawson Creek by hosting various events throughout the year but also included the impact from the overall operation of the venue.
