FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Site C geotechnical problems, a rising cost in the billions, and a three-day meeting were the main topics in this week’s Moose Talks with Sarah Cox, Narwhal reporter, and author of ‘Breaching the Peace: The Site C Dam & A Valley’s Stand Against Big Hydro’.

In January of this year, Cox made a Freedom of Information Request asking for all documents related to the Site C Project Assurance Board. When she received the documents six months later, she discovered the documents totalled 2,000 pages.

Within the document, Cox noted that in a May 2019 meeting, which lasted three days, it was noted that there were six significant risks, including the ‘weak foundation’ geotechnical problem. Cox also discusses how the project’s cost keeps rising, starting at $6.6-billion than $7.9-billion, $8.8-billion to $10.7-billion.
