FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Northern B.C. Volleyball Club has written a letter to School District 60 Board of Trustees requesting reconsideration for the use of school gymnasiums.

Currently, as part of COVID-19 safety protocols, the School District suspended the use of its facilities by third-parties.

According to the Club, volleyball is an inherently spaced sport and is one of the few team sports with minimal contact and the ability to maintain physical distancing.

The Club says practices would occur after school hours, and the school would not see an increased volume of visitors at any one time. The plan would also include adhering to proper sanitization protocols.

Superintendent Stephen Petrucci recommends that the Board does a review of protocols before making a further decision at the next board meeting on November 16.
