FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – After making an announcement for its reopening, the City of Fort St. John has made the decision to keep the North Peace Arena closed until 2021.
Originally, the Arena was set to reopen for Monday, November 2 but that decision was reversed by the City due to many sports groups modifying their season schedules, and
staffing shortages.
According to Chief Administrative Officer Milo MacDonald, the City plans to keep COVID-19 safety a top priority.
“This year has presented several challenges as we adjust to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we continue to move forward with our reopening plans we must do so while ensuring the safety of our residents, users, and staff.”
With the continued operation of two of the three ice hockey surfaces, both in the Pomeroy Sport Centre, the City maintains over 70 percent of the ice rental space compared to the 2019 – 2020 season.
Further information can be found on the City’s website.
