Fort St John Huskies crush Vipers in Sexsmith on Friday
SEXSMITH, A.B. – The Fort St. John Huskies were in Sexsmith on Friday night as they visited the Vipers.
At 4:43 into the game, the Vipers scored a goal on the Huskies making the score 1-0.
It would take some time for the Huskies to score a goal but, at 2:22, Joel Bourgeois would bury one into the net with assists by Jared Winkel and Aiden Tegart, tying the score at one apiece.
At 1:14 into the second period, the Vipers would break the tie by scoring a goal making the score 2-1.
Then 19 seconds later, the Huskies would respond as Gary Loewen would score a goal with a feed from Geoff Dick and Brady Marzocco tying the score at two apiece.
At 3:10 into the frame, the Vipers would score another goal making the score 3-2 over the Pups.
Then at 5:23 into the period, Aiden Tegart would make an unassisted goal making the score tied, once again, at 3-3.
37 seconds later, Dean Whitcomb would score a goal with assists by Alex Nimmo and Matthew Apsassin making the score 4-3 over Sexsmith.
Then in a power play, at 6:26 into the frame, Gary Loewen would make an unassisted goal making the Huskies’ lead 5-3.
Another Huskies score would come, at 7:37 in the period, as Dean Whitcomb would make his second goal of the night with assists by Alex Nimmo and Aiden Craig-Steele making the score 6-3.
Then at 8:34 into the frame, the Vipers would score a goal trailing behind the Huskies 6-4.
There would be no more goals made in the remainder of the second period.
At 2:37 into period three, on a power play, Geoff Dick would score a goal with an assist by Jared Loewen making the score 7-4.
Another goal would follow, at 8:34 into the frame, as Jacob Lang would shoot one into the net with an assist by Nolan Legace making it an 8-4 lead over the Vipers.
Then with 7:29 left in the period, Cooper Willms would score one on the Vipers with assists by Jeridyn Loewen and Nolan Legace making the score 9-4.
To finish off the game, with 25 seconds left, Jared Loewen would score a goal with an assist by Aiden Tegart, crushing the Vipers 10-4.
The Huskies are home tonight, Saturday, for the Fan Appreciation Weekend as they take on the Fairview Flyers. Puck drop is 8:00 p.m. at the North Peace Arena.
