Kings erase two-goal deficit to beat Huskies, even series at one apiece

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies blew a 2-0 lead versus the Grande Prairie JDA Kings, evening the playoff series at 1-1 on Tuesday night.

The Huskies started the game off strong in the opening period as Aiden Tegart scored less than two minutes into the contest, assisted by Darian Fay. Geoff Dick found twine at 9:44 assisted by Nolan Legace and Nathan Bragg for a 2-0 lead that the Dogs took into the first intermission.

The visitors cut the deficit to one goal midway through the second stanza as the chances were dead even at 10 to 10. The Kings tied the game at 10:46 of the third frame as they worked a 5-3 man advantage to perfection. They added the go-ahead goal less than two minutes later, just as Fay was let go from the penalty box. The Huskies couldn’t find the equalizer and as a result, lost a close one by the score of 3-2.

Five players chipped in with a point in the loss for the Pups while Zach Babin made 28 of 31 saves.

“We didn’t have any energy,” said General Manager Jeremy Clothier. “We need to be a lot better if we are going to be successful. We got a great game out of [Zach] Babin in net, but couldn’t get anything going.”

Game 3 on Thursday, gets underway at 8:00 p.m. at the North Peace Arena.
