Large power outage in Fort St. John

UPDATE – 12:20 p.m. – Power has been restored.

UPDATE – 12 p.m. – Hydro says the outage has been caused by trees down on power lines. Crews are still working to fix the outage. There is still no estimate on when power will be restored.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Over 1,100 customers in Fort St. John are currently without power. The outage started just after 11 a.m. Sunday and there is no estimate on when power will be restored.

According to the B.C. Hydro website, Hydro crews are on scene working to restore power. Hydro lists the following area as being affected by the outage: West of 84TH ST, East of RD 275 , South of RD 246.

The cause of the outage is still under investigation.
