Storm knocks out power in many places around Fort St. John

8 P.M. UPDATE – There is now a power outage from south of the Peace River to the Kiskatinaw River along the Alaska Highway and the Braden Road. There are another 244 customers in that area without power. There is no estimate on when power will be restored.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A strong storm moving through the North Peace has left over 600 customers without power.

As of 7:45 p.m., there are two major outages in the Fort St. John and Charlie Lake areas. The largest outage with 331 customers affected is from South of RD 285 , North of HWY 29 and West of 275 P RD. Another outage covering just over 300 customers is from north of Mile 54 to Wonowon along the Alaska Highway and east to the Halfway River.

At this time there is no estimate on when power will be restored. B.C. Hydro crews have been assigned to fix the outages, but have not arrived on scene to begin repairs.
