FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — St. John Advertising and Energetic Services have teamed up to collect donations for residents affected by the fire in Fort McMurray.
On Saturday, a truck from Energetic Services plans to drive to the Edmonton Emergency Relief Centre, where over 1,000 families have been displaced.
They are accepting clothing, diapers, toothbrushes, gift cards that can buy food, and monetary donations. St John’s Advertising will be collecting donations accumulated at the promo shop there.
The Rotary Club, The Fort St. John Women’s Resources Society, Alaska Highway Autobody, Progress Energy, and Gaslink are getting involved in making donations as well, says St. John Advertising co-owner Sam Warren.
“I couldn’t even imagine,” she said. “1,600 structures we’re destroyed .. It’s not even that it’s 1,600 homes. It’s more than that.”
Executive Assistant Rolande Reinboldt with Energetic Services says donations can be dropped off at their locations in Charlie Lake, Fort Nelson, Grande Prairie and Edson.
“We’re just trying to get it out there quickly,” says Reinboldt.
For those in Fort St. John, donations can be accepted at St. John’s Advertising, where they will be taken from to the location in Charlie Lake in time to leave on Saturday morning.
The fire in Fort McMurray forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 residents, and claimed over 1,600 structures after starting on Tuesday.
