District of Hudson’s Hope issues update

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The District of Hudson’s Hope is reassessing their evacuation alerts will be re-assessed today. They also confirmed a fire on Drew Road is extinguished and is in the mop-up stage.

The fire northeast of Wegen Road has moved north 1 kilometer and continuing to cross Brenot Creek towards Lynx Creek.

The Hudson’s Hope fire, located west of the Jamieson Subdivision is within a fire guard that has been constructed north between Summer Road and Carter Street along the north flank of the fire — approximately 3 kilometers long — is being continually actioned by Wildfire Management Services, with support from the District of Hudson’s Hope Fire Department.

People are asked to not travel in any of those areas, as it keeps emergency response teams from doing the work they need to do.

The Wildfire Management Service is marshaling additional resources to be moved into the Peace Region to deal with the regional wildfire situation.

The RCMP is maintaining the additional manpower that it has dispatched to Hudson’s Hope.

No residences or structures are at risk at this time. Winds have decreased substantially and are very mild at this time.
