FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The fundraising efforts to acquire a new dimmer rack for their theatre have reached their halfway mark, says the North Peace Cultural Centre.

As of last Friday, the Cultural Centre has reached roughly $25,000 of their $50,000 goal.

“There’s definitely been a strong, corporate response to it, as well as a lot of local, non-profit societies have been supportive of it as well,” Operations Manager Oliver Hachmeister said.

Some of the organizations listed as contributors so far include Shell Canada, Surerus Pipeline, Peace Arts Gallery Society, Peace River North Festival Association, Fort St. John Arts Council, and Reviving the Spirit Theatre Company out of Hudson’s Hope. Hachmeister says this company has performed at the Cultural Centre before, participating in festivals locally.

The Cultural Centre also acknowledged personal donations from Paul Mackey, Lori Bonertz, and Sue & Sorin Popesku. Other new contributions, as of the end of last week, have come from Keyera, The Fort St. John Co-op and Studio 2 Stage.

Last month, the Cultural Centre started fundraising for a new dimmer rack, as theirs is pushing a quarter of a century of work on local productions and has recently started malfunctioning.
