City to apply for matching funds grant from Bike B.C. for trail extension

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Council authorized staff to apply for a grant of approximately $340,000 from Bike B.C. The money would assist with the design and construction of a multi-use trail that will run from 100 Avenue to the existing West Bypass trail south of the train tracks. Council will also be providing a letter of support for the grant application.

In addition Council approved a capital budget amendment for trail development of $340,000 which will be funded from the gas tax reserve fund.

The trail extension is 1,260 metres in length. The City is working with Urban Systems in the designing of the extension for tendering purposes.
