Deceased identified in weekend Alaska Highway collision

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the woman who died in a vehicle collision west of Fort St. John on Saturday night.
She was 52-year-old Heather Marina Barnfield of Whitehorse, Yukon. Her family has been notified of her death.
Barnfield was the driver and only occupant of a camper-van on the Alaska Highway around 11 p.m. on March 5.
The van, travelling southbound, collided with a northbound tractor-trailer unit on the Charlie Lake hill. Road conditions were icy at the time of the accident.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate this incident.
