Flyers force sixth game with Grimshaw after first road playoff win

GRIMSHAW, A.B. – It took over three weeks of playoff hockey but the Fort St. John Flyers finally have their first postseason win on the road and they did so with their second straight lopsided victory after previously being down 3-0 in their semi final series with the Grimshaw Huskies. After an 11-2 win at home in game four on Saturday the Flyers went into Grimshaw on Tuesday night and came away with a 5-0 victory.

There was no score between the clubs after the first period, but the Flyers had already established a clear advantage in shots at 16-9.

Fort St. John put up another 16 spot in the shot column in the second and were rewarded for their persistence with three goals in the frame.

They put the outcome to rest with a fourth tally early in the third, and added a fifth on the power play for good measure with 8:15 left in the contest.

Scoring for the Flyers were Tyler Loney, Ryan Carter (2), and Rick Cleaver (2).

Troy Hunt got his first shutout of the playoffs with a 21 save performance.

Fort St. John dominated the shots in the contest as well, firing 48 on the Grimshaw goal.

Game six goes Thursday night at the North Peace Arena at 8:30 p.m.
