Northern Rockies RCMP arrest two men from Yellowknife
FORT NELSON, B.C. – Northern Rockies RCMP have arrested two men from Yellowknife after trying to steal a vehicle north of Fort Nelson near Fireside.
According to the RCMP, a 23 year-old and 28 year-old were arrested Sunday morning on the Alaska Highway at 1:30 a.m. The suspects were intercepted by the RCMP and found to allegedly have a 9mm pistol in the vehicle.
The men now face charges of theft, possession of stolen property and breach of a previous court imposed release conditions.
“We are very pleased to have safely apprehended these two men without incident” says Staff Sergeant Steve McLeod, Northern RCMP detachment commander.
“It us unclear at this time what their intentions were and why they were making their way to Fort Nelson, but these are two men who are not welcome in this community”
“We are also pleased that we were able to get a firearm out of the hands of these two individuals before it was used in any further offenses in Fort Nelson”.
