Grande Prairie woman left with broken nose following school zone assault

GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. — The Grande Prairie RCMP says a woman was assaulted near IV Macklin School on Jan. 21 and suffered a broken nose as result.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. that day. The victim in this case was being followed by another vehicle suspiciously — so she opted to take an alternative route, instead of carrying on driving home.

The suspect proceeded to pass the victim’s vehicle as she entered a school zone, and blocked the road. The suspect then got out of her vehicle — and when she got to the vehicle of the victim, she punched her through an open window.

Afterward, the suspect drove off, and the victim was treated for her injuries in hospital. She has since been released.

Officers describe their suspect as a First Nations woman, who is heavy-set. She was driving a dark grey or silver SUV. It was an older model, and has a red and white sticker on the back window that has faded to look more pink.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP.
